Colette is the Executive Director and a founder of the Breastfeeding Resource Center. She certified as an IBCLC in 1998. Colette is the recipient of the 2017 and 2024 USLCA Award of Excellence. She was the third person in history to win this coveted honor and was happily surprised to win it again. Colette works tirelessly to keep this small non-profit organization afloat. Colette has three grown children and is the proud grandmother of 3 (whom were all breastfed!). She resides in Jenkintown with her husband, Rodney, her mother, and her two rescue dogs, Georgia and Indie.

Louisa certified as an IBCLC in 2009. She has had the honor of working for the BRC since certifying. She has worked both in the hospital and outpatient setting. Louisa is certified in TummyTime!™ and is also a Professional Holistic Sleep Coach. Louisa has been married since 1996 and has four amazing kids who were all breastfed. She is never without her kindle as reading is her second passion (obviously, breastfeeding being her first!) She enjoys blogging about books, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Hillary has been a long-time volunteer at the BRC, always happy to pitch in with communications and social media.. Hillary found her passion for breastfeeding after the birth of her first child, and took the NMAC Counselor Training Class in order to help other moms succeed with their breastfeeding goals. Hillary graduated with a BS in Accounting from Cabrini University and worked in Accounting and Social Media, prior to joining the BRC staff. Hillary enjoys spending time with her family and reading.

She now loves to incorporate her enthusiasm for the support that the BRC provides to families into grant applications! Alice has previously worked in Market Intelligence and business research in the UK. She loves spending time with her family, baking and gardening.

Jen always knew she wanted to work with babies. She says, “I had many issues breastfeeding my second child. I was introduced to a breastfeeding counselor who helped me tremendously. After receiving that support, I wanted to repay the favor.” Jen became a peer breastfeeding counselor, and sat for her IBCLC exam in 2009. Jen has been with the BRC since 2007, starting in administration and then as an IBCLC. Jen loves her work at the BRC. She has three amazing adult children, all of whom were breastfed.

Nancy has been an occupational therapist for almost 20 years, focusing on early intervention. Her background includes sensory integration, infant feeding and development. Over the past several years, she has increased her focus on early infant development and feeding, including breast/chest feeding. She sat for the IBCLC board exam last September and is excited to be able to offer these services in addition to occupational therapy to families who are struggling.

Holley is a Registered Dietitian and International board certified lactation consultant. She became passionate about lactation after the birth of her first child. While she was lucky that her son latched well right away, she found it difficult to find support as their journey continued. After becoming a registered dietitian, she found it did not give her the sense of fulfillment she was looking for and thus started her journey to becoming an IBCLC at Drexel University, passing her exam in 2022. Now she works with patients and clients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, providing support to parents on their own breastfeeding journeys. She loves being a preceptor to aspiring IBCLCs. When not at the hospital or traveling to home visits, you can find her at home with her husband, 2 sons, and 4 cats or feeding the squirrels in her back yard .

Thamara Ferrugem, BS, IBCLC is a nutritionist and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant who earned her bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science from Paulista University in Brazil in 2006. She has been providing breastfeeding and lactation support to diverse families in the outpatient settings since 2017 and earned her IBCLC certification in 2024. Thamara is dedicated to supporting families as they work toward their unique breastfeeding goals, using evidence-based practices in a warm and supportive way. She values providing culturally sensitive, family-centered care, making sure every family feels confident and empowered on their breastfeeding journey. Outside of work, Thamara loves cooking and cherishes time spent outdoors with her family.

Liz Brooks is a private practice International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and licensed lawyer. She works as a postpartum per diem IBCLC at three BFHI-designated hospitals, educator/speaker, and lactation expert witness. Lactation helpers (like IBCLCs) struggle with ethical, legal, and moral concerns in their everyday work settings. With plain language and humor, Liz shares tips for immediate use, to protect both the family and the clinician. She authored the only textbook on legal and ethical issues for the IBCLC, and writes extensively for other textbooks, blogs, and peer-reviewed journals. Liz is a popular international conference speaker, using wit and wisdom to share pragmatic suggestions for anyone who supports lactating and human milk-using families. Liz self-identifies as a cisgender hetero white woman with unearned privilege, uses she/her/hers pronouns, and advocates for inclusive care and language.

Samirah is recently completed the BRC’s IBCLC internship program. In addition to her lactation services, she also helps families as a practicing doula. Samirah loves reading and crocheting and crochets breast models for lactation consultants to use! After having her son, Ellis, Samirah was looking for another way to be helpful to other moms, so she decided to become a lactation consultant as well.

Ingrid is a maternal-child nutritionist and IBCLC with over ten years of experience supporting families through pregnancy, breastfeeding, and early childhood. Her passion for lactation began in college while learning about the unique power of breast milk—and deepened after navigating her own breastfeeding journey. She has worked in hospitals, private practice clinics, home visits, and non-profit organizations, with a strong focus on community outreach and public health. Ingrid combines her background in nutrition with hands-on lactation support, bringing a calm and compassionate presence to every family she meets. When she’s not talking about breastfeeding, you can find her in the kitchen cooking up something nourishing or spending time with her husband and toddler.

Tonae has been providing direct breastfeeding and lactation support to mothers during postpartum hospitalization, babies in the nicu, and outpatient settings since 2016. Tonae is a proud mother of three breastfed children. From this experience, she developed a passion for advocating and educating mothers and families. Her goal is to better prepare mothers and babies through their breastfeeding journey.

Titilola is an experienced home birth midwife who has been serving families in the Philadelphia area since 2018. What began as basic breastfeeding support has since grown into elevated care following her certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2025. She completed the majority of her 500 clinical hours at Temple University Hospital through the Breastfeeding Resource Center, where she now works—continuing her dedication to maternal and infant health in the community.

Jess lives with her sweet daughter who was born in 2016, and if she’s not helping families with breastfeeding, Jess can be found at the barn with her horse, Chico.

When she’s not snuggling babies or chatting with parents, Sophia can usually be found in New Hope with her husband and two children.

From becoming an La Leche Leader in 2007, owning a private lactation practice for 7 years, to working in hospitals with new postpartum mothers, I have gained over fifteen years of experience helping parents with a wide variety of breastfeeding goals. I prioritize the mother-baby relationship and want you to be confident in your ability to incorporate breastfeeding into your lifestyle. Since becoming IBCLC certified in 2011, I am truly passionate to be a part of the community of lactation consultants who honor the sacred practice of breastfeeding. With a commitment to you and your baby, I strive to be your needed advocate and ally. In my free time, I can be found on the sidelines of my children’s lacrosse games, spending time with my husband, knitting, and reading.

Over the years, she has worked in a pediatric clinic, hospitals, community health clinics, and home visitation programs. She's a proud mother of three—each of whom were breastfed—and she loves spending time with her kids and traveling. Since becoming a lactation consultant, she's provided compassionate, evidence-based care for everything from prenatal breastfeeding preparation to overcoming challenges like nipple pain, low supply, tongue tie, and bottle refusal. Her goal is to meet you where you are and help you reach your unique feeding goals.

Sam Savage joined the BRC as a home visit IBCLC after completing her internship with the team. Before becoming a lactation consultant, Sam spent several years working in book publishing, but eventually felt called to work more closely with families. In 2023, she trained as a postpartum doula and quickly saw how common—and how challenging—breastfeeding struggles can be. After having her first child and receiving care from an IBCLC herself, Sam knew she’d found the path she wanted to follow. Sam is passionate about providing compassionate, in-home lactation care and meeting families exactly where they are—both physically and emotionally. Outside of work, Sam enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her daughter.

Danielle Kedziora is a registered nurse and International Board-Certified Lactation consultant. Danielle has over 30 years of pediatric nursing experience including NICU and outpatient care. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with lactation consultants, supporting families through feeding challenges and celebrating their milestones. As a Mom, she breastfed both of her daughters-an experience that deepened her commitment to helping families on their feeding journeys. Danielle has a special interest in food allergies and takes a holistic approach to delivering care. She guides her families with compassion, evidence-based care and a deep understanding of pediatric health. Danielle lives at the beach with her husband and is the proud parent of two grown daughters. When she is not helping families, she can be found exercising by the shore, experimenting with new recipes and spending time with her family.

Our Board

The BRC Board of Directors comprises volunteers with diverse backgrounds and experience. All board members bring their own expertise to the table in support of the BRC’s mission.


The BRC Board of Directors meets 10 times a year, including the annual retreat in January. Each board member must commit to participating in at least one committee. The committees include Executive, Fundraising, Finance, Communications, and Education.

Serving on the Board of Directors

is an excellent opportunity to give back and apply your unique skills and interests. You will contribute to the strategic direction of our non-profit, community-based center.


This is a working board that relies on each board member to attend meetings, know their strengths, and proactively identify where they can best help and jump right in!

Roles and Responsibilities of the Board

  • Have a commitment to advance the BRC's mission
  • Help meet the financial needs of the BRC by contributing their own time and expertise to fundraising
  • Includes at least one monetary donation a year (no minimum)
  • Includes selling tickets and soliciting sponsors for annual fundraiser with a goal of raising $1,000 per board member
  • Serve a term of two years (additional terms are possible)
  • Attend at least 75% of board meetings that are held at least 9 times a year and attend the annual retreat
  • Participate in at least one committee. Committees include: Executive, Fundraising, Education, Finance, and Communications
  • Committees meet approximately once a month
